Stuart Police Chief Dave Dyess named interim city manager

STUART — Police Chief David Dyess was named interim city manager Monday by a unanimous City Commission.

Dyess will begin May 29 and will hold the position until the commission selects a permanent city manager. During his tenure, he will receive a 10 percent raise, which would make his annual salary $130,000, according to city records.

Dyess, 49, takes over the job from former City Manager Dave Ross who, under pressure from commissioners, resigned May 4 after just seven months on the job.

Before voting Monday, several commissioners said they had received positive feedback about Dyess since May 9, when Commissioner Troy McDonald proposed the chief as a candidate…
