Martin County delays controversial changes to Comprehensive Plan, will hear community first

MARTIN COUNTY — The County Commission Tuesday held off on adopting cuts to its Comprehensive Growth Management Plan after numerous residents protested and asked officials for clarity and justification for the proposed changes.

The commission unanimously agreed to delay the proposed elimination of language in Chapter 2 that summarizes policies — related to quality of life, natural resource conservation, economic growth and fiscal management — mentioned elsewhere in the plan.

As an alternative, the county will host community workshops about the proposed revisions.
